Nueva Herencia: Re-Imagining Baroque Portraiture and Self Adornment 2025
Created for the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Baroque exhibit, this portrait project invited Native American and Latino students to explore identity, heritage, and dreams through fashion. By using clothing, symbols, and self-adornment, students crafted powerful visual narratives that reflect strength, leadership, and cultural pride. Preserving their stories for future generations through intentional, expressive garments.
2024 Artist Day: Centennial Celebration of Villa Terrace
A children’s headdress-making workshop inspired by the rich history of ceremonial adornment across ancient Aztec tribes using feathers, florals, colorful textures, and decorative elements. Through this workshop, children were invited to explore creativity, symbolism, and self-expression by designing their own wearable art pieces using colorful materials and natural-inspired elements. Hosted as part of the museum’s centennial celebration and commitment to community-centered arts programming option.
Sewing Social Workshop: 2024
This event offers a welcoming space to learn sewing, explore fashion, and connect with others. Participants learned how to use a sewing machine, receive guidance on personal projects, or simply connect with others who share similar interests.
By offering hands-on learning and encouraging collaboration, the event helps build an inclusive fashion space in Milwaukee one where people of all backgrounds and skill levels can come together, share resources, and strengthen connections through creativity.
Street Couture: Bay View High School 2024
This project taught students from Bay View High School sewing, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Tasked with building their own brand, they created pieces reflecting their individuality and cultural identity. A classroom photoshoot and community fashion showcase highlighted their work and celebrated their voices through fashion.
